GC B-level match v Wrest Park
July 17th
The hot weather was hard to cope with, but everyone soldiered on. We decided not to play a final double as most players had had enough by then, so we happily agreed on a draw.
My man of the match was Ian who beat (thrashed) the 4-handicap player. Both Ian and Graham each had 3 singles wins - well done to you both. And the team won both doubles - absolutely fantastic! Hopefully now things are on the up....!

Report on GC Fun Doubles, 14 June 2026
There were 26 players in the Fun Doubles tournament this afternoon; the perfect summer weather ensured that we all had a very enjoyable afternoon.
The top-scoring individual was Andrea Carr, and the winning pair in the final two games was Andrea and Vernon McClure. There were four new members playing, and Sandie Mair won a prize as best newcomer.

We do not always know in advance when members reach a milestone, but today we were able to sing “Happy Birthday” to Margo Leach, who will shortly celebrate reaching 90.

AC match v Watford June 3rd
The team of Keith Rhodes, Robert Skeen, Mark Homan and Colin Davies played a EACF A/C H/C league match v Watford today.
The morning doubles ended 1 - 1 with Robert and Colin winning Letchworth point. The afternoon four singles of which Letchworth won 3 out of 4 with wins for Keith, Mark and Colin with Robert narrowly losing 25 - 26 giving Letchworth a 4 - 2 win overall.

Round 1. Away at Wrest Park on Tuesday 28 April. Team of Heather, Brian, Kevin and I lost 9-11. Cold hands and lack of practice is my excuse.
Round 2. Home to Old Brentwoods on Tuesday 5 May. Heather, Brian, Kevin and I did enough to beat Alison Maugham, Cliff Jones, Derek Code, Robert Morrison 11(112)-7(75).

Thank you Robin for driving today on busy potholed roads. We were warmly welcomed by Northampton on a cold but dry day.
Our team all played well with a better result than against Leighton Linslade last week but overall we lost 11 games to 7 and 109 hoops to 98.
In our defence you will notice that they did have a 3 handicap player who would have been expected, and did , win most of his games (well done Bryan who beat him).

GC B-leverl match v Leighton Linslade May 1st
Our first match of the season was away to Leighton Linslade on Fri 1st May. The team comprised of David Clancey, Stu Haggett, Robin Mead and Ian Perry. Unfortunately, the day did not go our way as we lost 110 hoops to 83. Onwards and upwards!

GC Handicap match v Barnet
April 23rd
We had our first GC handicap league match today away to Barnet. Played in glorious conditions we unfortunately lost 7-3. However the majority of the games were quite close with Barnet scoring 65 hoops and Letchworth 47 hoops
